Ward Gold-Green Dall A Success The Gold and Green Ball was held at Victory Park, Saturday !i evening, Feb. 6, under the di-v di-v rection of the MIA presidents. Mrs- Vroime Parrish was in -' charge of decorating, with the help of the Jr. Gleaners, Gleaners, Glean-ers, Jr- M Men, and M Men. i The floffr show was under the i direction of Misses Marion and Glenda Gardner and Mrs. Earl : Gardner. The theme for the dance was "A Stranger in Paradise." The .' theme song was sung by Misses ; Carolyn Ross and Deanne Asay, ; accompanied by Miss Patricia Gines. The evening of dancing , was enjoyed to the music of Tal Wardle's orchestra. Refreshments were sold under un-der the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire. The dance was very well attended and all report a very nice time. Sunday School faculty meeting meet-ing was held Feb. 3rd at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Betts, with the following in attendance: at-tendance: Marvin Kettle, Earl Winn, Leland Angus, Erna Stol-la, Stol-la, Inez Squire, Beatrice Lund-berg, Lund-berg, Nita White, Myrtle Collins Col-lins and Mrs. Betts. Leland Angus An-gus gave the faculty lesson and Mrs. White the lesson for junior Sunday School. After various discussions refreshments were served. Mrs. Wilson Gutzman, of Ft. Duchesne, and Mrs. Rhoda Rudy of Roosevelt, were substitute teachers at Alterra last week. Mrs. Earl Winn and Mrs. David Lundberg attended a R.E.A. meeting at Altamont last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Larsen and small children left Sunday afternoon on a trip to' Salt Lake City on pleasure and business. RELIEF SOCIETY Mrs. Evelyn Brighton presented pre-sented the Theology lesson at 1 Relief Society on Tuesday. Feb. 2nd, and Mrs. Lora Asay the teachers' topic lesson. Mrs. Deon Galloway, of Rosevelt, and Mrs. Minnie Angus were there as representatives of the stake Relief Re-lief Society board. BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. Calvin Squire entertained entertain-ed the following boys and girls at dinner on Sunday, Jan. 30th, honoring her son, DeLoy's birthday: birth-day: David and Anthony Lundberg, Lund-berg, Jay Winn and Donnde Kettle. Frank -Bingham spent several sever-al days in Salt Lake City, visiting visit-ing relatives last week. Wendel Johnson received a telephone call from Salt Lake City last Thursday night, telling of the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Zina Pearce. Mr. Johnson went out on Friday to be with her, returning Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Don Simmons and son, of Tridell, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish on Saturday, Jan. 30. Rex Winn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Winn, and Brent Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erie Hatch, were baptised and confirmed con-firmed members of the L.D.S. church on Sunday at Fast meeting. meet-ing. . TO MOVE TO IDAHO Mr. and Mrs. Von Simper and family, who have been living liv-ing at Alterra for a while, are planning on moving to Idaho this coming week. Mr. Simper has been custodian at Alterra this present school year. Mr. and Mrs. LaRue Pickup, of Randlett, were callers at the George Bracken home on Thursday. Thurs-day. ENTERTAIN AFTER DANCE Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish entertained en-tertained the M Men and Glean er girls and a few of the MIA officers at their home after the Gold and Green Ball on Saturday Satur-day evening. Mrs. Parrish had her home decorated in St. Valentine Val-entine colors and served delicious deli-cious refreshments. Mrs. Russel Todd accompanied accompan-ied Mr. and Mrs. Max Todd, of Neo'la, to Logan last Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd and Joanne Todd. Howard and Joanne are students at the AC. At Bountiful they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Mohlman. They were accompanied accom-panied as far as Salt Lake City by Wendel Johnson. The following Trekkers, boys of the Ballard Primary, Glen Page, Lucky Ross, Merrell Ras-mussen Ras-mussen and Allen Collins, under un-der the leadership of their teacher, Mrs. Myrtle Winn, prepared pre-pared and served a meal to their parents one evening recently recent-ly at the Ballard chapel. The parents present were: Mr. and Mrs. John Page, Mr. and Mrs. George Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Fer-rell Fer-rell Rasmussen, Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins, and Mrs. Raymond Eldredge. Mr. and Mrs. Mar Rcfss have chosen the names of David and Deborah for their twins. Duane and George Bracken have completed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reyos and the family plans on moving into it in the near future. Clifton Jenkins, son of Wm. and May Jenkins, leaves for Treasure Island for his physical examination for the Navy, Feb. 8, and will be sent to San Diego on the 16th to take his boot training. His wife and child have bone to Neo'la to stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer. Spen-cer. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brighton and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Snyder and family, fam-ily, of Altonah; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bingham and family, of Vernal, had a get-to-gether at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bingham on Sunday. Frank Bingham will leave on Wednesday Wednes-day to join the armed forces. Mrs. David Lundberg helped her little daughter, Marie, celebrate cel-ebrate her third birthday one day last week. Kent and Idonna Winn, children of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Winn, were guests. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shisler went to Duchesne Sunday afternoon after-noon and visited a short time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mont S. Poulson. Mrs. John H. Cook was taken to Vernal to receive medical care on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and is now at the home of her eon and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Williams. Mr. Cook is staying there also to be near his wife. We hope for Mrs. Cook's speedy recovery. Mrs. Cecil Jenkins left on Sunday with Mrs. George Funk to visit in Salt Lake City. A Jenkins family get-to-geth-er was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Jenkins on Sunday, in honor of Clifton Jenkins. Those present besides the Jenkins family were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jenkins and baby, of Duchesne, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Jenkins and child. |
