Show LeetoivBeiiiiet Mrs. Fern Houston Married At Home Myron Haslem, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Haslem, and Ruth Hamblin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hamblin, of Montwel, were married at a quiet home wedding at the home of her parents. par-ents. The young couple will make their home at Bennett. A reception recep-tion will be given at Montwel Jan. 8th. . For many years the W. H. Col-tharps Col-tharps have had open house at New Years, but this year only a few friends called to watch the old year out and bring goor cheer to Mr. Coltharp. A very nice party par-ty was had and Mr. Coltharp felt fine the morning after. Dr. and Mrs. Paul Stringham were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Coltharp, Sunday. I Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmston j entertained at a New Year's dinner' din-ner' for Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston. Byron Horrocks left Sunday for San Francisco to receive his discharge dis-charge papers from the U. S. Coast Guard. He has been in the service in that capacity for three years. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem and sons, Bill and Wayne, were dinner din-ner guests at the home of Ray Haslem at Tridell, New Year's Day. Mr and Mrs. Otis Horrocks visited vis-ited .Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Morrell Labrum and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Adams of Roosevelt. Frances Bowen is in Salt Lake ', visiting her daughter and family, Mrs. Gwen Butterfield. ' For New Year's dinner the Jack Houstons entertained the families of Ray Houston, Ray Parnell and George Houston. (Late for Last Week) CHRISTMAS PASSES The Christmas season is past, but the wonderful spirit of Peace and Love and the ideals that have inspired, comforted and lifted humanity hu-manity for many generations seemed to be present with us this season. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bolton, of Salt Lake, spent the holidays at the home of her parents at Ava-lon Ava-lon and with his parents, the John Boltons. Miss Ida Hartle, of Sacramento, Sacramen-to, Calif., spent the holidays at Vernal with relatives and at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Haslem. We have quite a bit of sickness in this area, as Mrs. Frences Bow- en, Bettye Bolton, Doris Haslem, Nellie Horrocks and Douglas) Bolton are confined to their beds, all with flu. I Mrs. George Houston entertain- J ed at a Christmas dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Ned Coltharp and Willis Miller. Mrs. Delia McKowen, of Vernal, Ver-nal, has been visiting with her children here, and has spent the holidays here, with Mrs. Mervin Bolton. Mrs George Houston received a letter from London, England, from her aunt, Mrs. Johnny Sur, who was vacationing there. Mr. and Mrs. Sur lived at Hayden and Mrs. Sur is Mrs. W. H. Col-tharp's Col-tharp's sister. They are now in Paris. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nichols, of Rangely, were Christmas dinner guests at the home of Mr and Mrs. Dick Coltharp. Wednesday night the annual Christmas party for the children was held at the church. All in attendance at-tendance were presented with a treat of candy and nuts and enjoyed en-joyed a program, given under the direction of the Primary. Sunday, the Sunday . School presented pre-sented a special program. President Presi-dent Hollis Hullinger and Presley Timothy were in attendance and spoke briefly. Other speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bolton and Mrs. Delia McKowan. Lowell D. Long came home from Roseville, Calif., where he has been attending college. He will return after the holidays. He is living at the home of his sister, Mrs. Don Palmer. Gary Hall, who is attending a vocational school at Provo, is home for the holidays. |
