Show Final Rites Held For Young Business Operator Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed last Friday at 1 p.m. in the Roosevelt stake chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for Alma Karl Johnstun, 33, who died in a Salt Lake hospital Dec. 28, following a major operation. Bishop W. Ralph Shields of the Roosevelt Second ward, conducted the services. Speakers at the services who reviewed the noble life of Mr. Johnstun were Arvin Bellon, Dr R. V. Larson, E. L. Murphy and Bishop Shields. Each told of personal per-sonal observations and knowledge of the fine life of the deceased, who was associated with his father, Lynn Johnstun, in the auto repair business known as Lynn's Garage. 1 Music for the services consisted consist-ed of prelude and postlude music by Mrs. R. V. Larson; male quartet quar-tet consisting of Bennie Schmiett, Owen Burgener, Ned and Allen Gines, and a vocal solo by LeRoy Anderson. The accompanists were Mrs. Schmiett and Mrs. Essie Alexander. Al-exander. The invocation was given by Bert Angus,' the benediction by Eldon Mortensen and the grave was dedicated by Paul Murphy. Military services were held at the graveside under the direction of Basin Post 64, American Legion Leg-ion of Roosevelt. They also presented pre-sented the national colors at the chapel preceding the funeral, and members of the post acted in the capacity of honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were members of the Roosevelt Volunteer Fire Department, of which Mr. Johnstun John-stun was a member. Mr. Johnstun was born in Roosevelt Roos-evelt April 10, 1921, a son of James Lynn and JoDesso Richens Johnstun. His mother died in 1926 when Karl was 5 years old, and his grandmother, Mrs. Lola Rich-ens, Rich-ens, raised him. He married Beryl Ellen Kelsey Nov. 7, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS ' Temple. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints, he held the office of an elder, and was a member of the Third Quorum of Elders, Roosevelt Roose-velt stake. |
