Show RHS Students Eligible For October Performance Of All - State Chorus A formal invitation has been extended by the Utah Music Education association to all Roosevelt high school music students stu-dents who qualify to sing in the all-state chorus, which will be conducted by Howard Swan, of California, Oct. 11-13, at the annual meeting of the Utah Educational Ed-ucational association meeting-, David C. Watkins, RHS music director, said ' Thursday. Tryouts locally will be under the direction of Mr. Watkins, a member of the U.M.E.A. Full details may be had from him. Mr. Watkins said that students stu-dents for this chorus, probably from 500 to 1,000, will be selected se-lected from outstanding students from the schools invited. Chorus Chor-us members will rehearse Thurs day and Friday, and sing Friday Fri-day night, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p. m. Each year, Mr. Watkins continued, con-tinued, the U.M.E.A. drafts this chorus program and conducts music clinics during the annual U.E.A. meeting. According to Mr. Watkins, he plans to take one or more RHS students to participate in the convention music clinics, regardless regard-less of the outcome of selections selec-tions in the all-state chorus group. |
