Show i Mammoth Holiday On Ice' Show Set For State Fair Indications point to broken attendance records at this year's Utah State Fair, according to J. A. Theobald, managing director, direc-tor, who bases this forecast on the increased number of exhibitors exhib-itors and contestants in all class-' class-' es, along with the heavy demand de-mand for ticket reservations to the World Premiere of a brand new 1951 edition of Holiday On Ice, the popular skating revue which scored heavily at last year's fair. Mr. Theobald says his office has been swamped with mail and telephone requests for tickets tick-ets since the first announcement announce-ment of the show's coming, several sev-eral weeks ago. Large groups and theatre parties are calling for tickets for various performances perform-ances which start Friday Sept. 15, and continue nightly through Saturday, Sept. 23, with matinees mat-inees Sept. 17 and 23. The Utah Municipal League whose 1950 convention will be held in Salt Lake at Fair time, will attend one of the performances perform-ances in a body as the highlight meeting. Since last October, Mr. Theobald Theo-bald has been negotiating with show officials, against stiff bidding bid-ding from Rochester, N. Y. and Norfolk, Va., for this World i Premiere performance of the International Ice Extravaganza now starting its sixth annual tour of 29 American and foreign for-eign cities. Holiday On Ice bookings are always set up one to two years in advance and in securing the show for this year's fair, Theobald overcame many objections Including the reluctance reluc-tance of George Tyson, producer produ-cer and manager, to change the shows itinerary and contracts in several eastern cities. |
