Show Stake MIA Has Speech Contest Sunday The MIA of the Roosevelt LDS stake sponsored the stake speech contest at the concluding session of quarterly stake conference Sunday Sun-day evening. George Hacking, stake YMMIA superintendent, presided at the session and introduced the contestants, con-testants, who had been requested to speak on one of the Beatitudes. Participants and their ratings were as follows: Nancy Rockwood, Roosevelt 4th ward, superior; Janet Jan-et Stevens, Roosevelt 3rd ward, superior; Barbara Ray, Moffat ward, superior; Carol Memmott, Roosevelt ward, excellent; Mau-rine Mau-rine Allred, Roosevelt 2nd ward, excellent JoAnn Todd, Ballard ward, excellent; Phyllis Yergen-sen, Yergen-sen, Myton ward, excellent; Ruth Hamblin, Montwel ward, very good; Sylvan Richens, Ioka, very good; and Richard Durfee, Rand-lett, Rand-lett, very good. Musical selections were given by the Girls' Chorus from Union High School, directed by Owen F. Burgener, music instructor. They sang, "Green Cathedral" and "The Lord's Prayer." |
