Show This Week's RECIPE . . . Mrs. Joe Reidhead called in the following recipe this week, which makes a delicious holiday cake and remains moist at least two weeks. HUSBAND CAKE cup shortening (Crisco) 1 y2 cups sugar 1 cup condensed tomato soup (Campbell's) 1 y2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves cup cold water 1 tsp. soda 3 tsp. baking powder tsp. salt 3 cups flour iy2 cups raisins iy2 cups nuts Measure Crisco and sugar into mixing bowl. Blend together. Combine Com-bine tomato soup with water and soda. Add alternately with the sifted dry ingredients to the Crisco mixture. mix-ture. Stir in raisins and nuts. Bake in loaf pans, greased and floured, for approximately 1 hour in moderate oven at 350 degrees. Frost with following icing. Cream Cheese .Fondant Icing Blend 2 packages Philadelphia Cream Cheese with 1 egg yolk and 3 cups powdered sugar, adding add-ing 1 cup at a time. Add 1-8 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. vanilla. |
