Show School Notes LONG HORN ROUND-UP The main topic of conversation in Long Horn territory this week is basketball. The team came back with two wins and a loss and are brimming over with news. On Thursday night they played Granite Gran-ite reserves and juniors. The second sec-ond night they played Grantsvill in Tooele's gymnasium. The third night they played Dugway in the Army gym. Coach Bearden reports a successful trip with experience rating first. The games were played on floors that would make two of ours, and there were no scratches and rough places. They are used for gym and athletics only and no dances or other activities ac-tivities are held in the gymnasium. gymnas-ium. I armie Bird really turned loose and made 13 points against Granite. Gran-ite. Doe Farnsworth was hiqh point man against Grantsville with 12 points. One thing the boys really noticed was the number of fouls called against them. Some of our boys who have four and five fouls a game only had one or two at the most, and it was consistent con-sistent in all three games. The boys really enjoyed the stay at Dugway. After the game they went to the Teen-Age Club and were quite impressed with the hospitality of the students and people. They stayed in one of the Army Barracks and had just a touch of Army life. The C. O. of the base, Major Atkinson, was very nice and the hospitality was something you don't often find. The sports fans will be glad to know that the next two games will be played at home. Friday night the school will be host to Dugway in two games. The first game will begin around 5 o'clock and the second at seven. The game will be followed by a dance sponsored by the yearbook. Satur- day night Moab will play at Alta-mont. |
