Show Union Sends Boys To "Y" Meet; Four Gain Honors Coaches Glen Allred and Horace Hor-ace Gillispie reported they entered en-tered two' track teams in the Brigham Young Invitational meet which, was held last Saturday Sat-urday in Provo. On Friday, 8th, 9th and 10th graders represented represent-ed the Cougar school, and Saturday Sat-urday eight juniors and seniors made the Provo jaunt. The freshman team, composed of Callis Morrill, Elwyne Du-Shane, Du-Shane, Creig Ross and Keith horrocks placed third in the 880 yard relay. None placed in the individual races. The sophomore team placed second in the 880-relay, 880-relay, and Leland Mecham came ' in fourth in the high jump, and Lloyd Duncan gained the same honor in the broad jump. These sophs joined with Clayton Hu-ber Hu-ber and Gary Christensen to cop second in the relay. Wayne Brown and Larry All-red All-red were the only Cougars to place on Saturday in the Class B competition. Wayne took fifth in the high jump and Larry came in fourth in the 880-yard race. Others making the Saturday Satur-day trip were Gerald Hatch, Gordon Eldredge, Albert Collot-zi, Collot-zi, Gordon Heed, Neil Duncan and Gordon Hayne. The Region Five track meet has been scheduled for Vernal on Thursday, May 6th with all schools in the region expected to enter teams. Six counties comprise the region Uintah, Duchesne, Carbon, Emery, San Juan and Grand. To qualify for the state meet an athlete must place at least third in the region reg-ion meet, and only first place relay teams qualify. Time of the meet will be 12:30 at Vernal. |
