Show Ellonroe L Ostler Enters Military Service Monroe L. Ostler, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Ostler, Jr., RFD 1, Roosevelt, enlisted in the Marine Corps April 20 for ttwn vears active dutv. A former student of Weber Jr. College, Ostler enlisted with three other men from Ogden, after being accepted for enlistment enlist-ment at that city. During the next few months Private Ostler will receive basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif. Upon completion of the initial training phase, he will receive leave to visit his family and friends with orders assigning j him to s Marine Corps school or ! a new duty station. When asked why he enlisted, Ostler said: "I want to get the active-duty part of my eight years obligated service completed complet-ed so my future schooling will not be interupted by military service." Enlistments under the newly re-opened two year plan are still being- accepted for Marine Corps duty. Private Ostler and eight other Intermountain Marine enlistees en-listees left Salt Lake City April 20 by train for San Diego and Marine "Boot" camp. |
