Show 7 is Week's RECIPE . . . A good boiled raisin cake recipe is a must in every housewife's house-wife's recipe file. The following is one of Mrs. Presley Timothy's favorites. BOILED RAISIN CAKE 1 13 cup raisins IVz cups water 1 tsp. soda Vz cup shortening Vz cup brown sugar Vz cup granulated sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Vz tsp. cloves Vz tsp. nutmeg 2 cups flour 1 egg 1 cup walnuts Vz tsp. maple flavoring Combine raisins, water and soda, and boil until 1 cup liquid liq-uid remains. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg. Measure flour and sift with spices. Add to creamed mixture alternately with cooled raisins. Add nuts and flavoring. Pour into' a greased and floured dripper pan or into two pans, 8x12. Bake at 375 deg. for 40 minutes. , FROSTING Put lVz cups brown sugar in heavy skillet and moisten with 3 tbs. cream. Stir and bring mixture to boil, but do not cook. Turn off heat and beat mixture with spoon until thick enough to spread. |
