Show Mass Meeting To Discuss Oil Tank Controversy Under the sponsorship of the Roosevelt Parent-Teachers Association, As-sociation, a mass meeting is being be-ing called for next Thursday. Oct. 4, at the Elementary school to further discuss a controversy that has grovn out of a permit given by Roosevelt city to an oil company to construct bulk-storage bulk-storage tanks less than a block from the school. According to Mrs. Ned Bellon, P-TA president, expected to attend at-tend the meeting next week will be representatives of the Wasatch Southern Oil Co., Mr. Ross, district engineer of the Pacific Board of Underwriters for the State of Utah, officials of Roosevelt, and interested citizens cit-izens o the city. Time of the meeting is 8 p. m. A large delegation representing represent-ing the P-TA met with the city council at their regular meeting-last meeting-last Monday and requested tha council to pass an ordinance that would coincide with the standards as recommended by the Board of Fire Underwriters. The delegation pointed out that r if such an ordinance were passed, then all future disagreements disagree-ments similar to the present one would not occur. According to Mayor Homer P. Edwards, no action was taken on the request of the delegation, but he stated Wednesday that there were several recommended ordinances the BFU had approved. ap-proved. "To pass the kind of ordinance the group asked for Monday would mean a strict zoning ordinance something that must take a lot of careful study," the Mayor said. An invitation is extended the public to attend the meeting and enter into' the discussion. |
