Show FOREST FIRES DESTROY 24 ACRES OF TIMBER Supervisor Earl C. Sanford reports that three forest fires have occured on the Ashley National Na-tional Forest to-datc this summer. sum-mer. These tires burned a total of 24 acres. Two of the fires were man-caused and one was starter by lightning. All fires were promptly discovered and suppressed. Supervisor Sanford urges that all forest visitors exercise every caution with fire. In view of the present emergency it is of ever-increasing ever-increasing importance that forest for-est fires be prevented. The loss of valuable stands of timber, and the diversion of labor needed in the war effort to fight fires could do much to hamper our all important war program.
