Show 4-H's Work In Utah Legislature Local 4-H'ers were among the 36 youth who got a chance to participate in the Utah House of Representatives J an . 24 and IV THE 4-H'ers. representing counties throughout the state, served as messenger assistants for a day. This is the third year 4-H youth have served in the House as part of the overall Utah Voter Awareness Program. John Paul Murphy, assistant state 4-H leader, says the program prog-ram has increased in popularity popular-ity over the years because it gives the youth a first hand experience ex-perience at how the stale government gov-ernment works. "DIRING THE two sessions ses-sions the 4-H'ers helped with, quite a few bills were passed that will greatly affect the future fu-ture of their education." Murphy Mur-phy says. He says most ol'lhemgot the chance to meet with the representatives repre-sentatives from their home districts dis-tricts and were given a tour of the Capitol building. Some also were able to sit in on committee com-mittee meetings and budget hearings. |
