Show Just Caring For Hungry Animals Regarding the article by K.L. Moore, on Feb. 5, 1984 in the Tribune newspaper, we found it to be the epitomy of ignorance, specieism. and heartlessness. The article even included Moore's picture. Why, I'll never know. He should hide his face in shame. CATS ARK beautiful, loving, loyal, clean, intelligent intelli-gent creatures. They are innocent and blameless. The guilty ones are their irresponsible owners. A good rule to follow is. "Don't judge an Indian, until you have walked a mile in his moccasins, or in an animals paws." These creatures, among all the others, are born into a cold world. They're homeless, helpless and voiceless. Once, they roamed the earth, free, untroubled. Then man was created and plunged the entire animal kingdom into a living hell. Born in the wild, as many are, they're subject to all kinds of weather, traffic, cruelty and starvation. This winter was especially harsh. Hundreds of thousands of cats froze to death, as were dogs, most of them chained to their doghouses. We found a frozen burro, as shown on Channel Four television on Jan. 22. The next day a horse was found, starved and frozen, and seven more horses close to death in Ccnterville. Yesterday, 20 cows were found starved to death, and 20 more close to it in West Warren, and on and on. WE HAVE been feeding horses, cattle, deer, cats, birds, etc., all winter. It's heartbreaking to see the lack of feeling and the cruelty some people show animals. Very likely, the same types that abuse their children. Life is precious, and all living things count. K.L. Moore is totally wrong about cats. Unfortunately, Unfortun-ately, there are people like Moore that don't want to " help or understand, but instead make the creatures lives even more miserable. WE, OF HELP Save the Animals. Inc.. all have cats. They are neutered or spayed, stay indoors, are beautiful, loving and loayl, and get along better together than most people. We also feed strays and find homes for them, insisting they be spayed or neutered. At least, we are trying to help solve their problem, instead of adding to it. We aren't cussing the poor animals. Instead, we're educating people against letting their pets roam, especially at night. We want to eliminate needless suffering and death by stopping over population, so that only animals are r born that can be accommodated by homes for them; : good, responsible, and loving homes. We want I above all to see the day when owning an animal is i considered a real privilege. i We feel sorry for the Moore's of this world. They seem to lack the intelligence to even realize where i the blame lies. Maybe, it's easier to pick on voiceless i creatures, than to approach their irresponsible ; owners. ' K.L. MOORE, here is a big Hiss to you. You had i better fear meeting your Maker. He loved and cre- ated all the creatures. Surely God created cats on his : very best day, they are so special.
