Show It's About Time Cleaning Off The Refrigerator By VICKIE MATHESON It's time to clean oft" the refrigerator. No. I didn't mean clean out the refrigerator--! meant clean off the refrigerator. It seems that I collect more things on the outside of the fridge than I do on the inside. I don't know why 1 can't bring myself to throw away all the little notes and silly art work that seem to collect there. I DIDN't start collecting refrigerator junk until a year ago when a well meaning friend gave me a magnet as a birthday gift. Naturally I stuck it on the refrigerator, and the next thing I knew I was sliding newspaper clippings under it. I started with movie reviews and the paper's weekly week-ly calendar of events. Then 1 thought the refrigerator was the perfect spot to put Mark's phone messages. (He always seems to head for the refrigerator before he heads for the phone so it was the logical location.) I also put little notes to myself under that magnet il also have an attraction for the refrigerator), and before be-fore I knew it I needed to invest in another magnet. Under the new strawberry magner I put the monthh telephone and Visa bill as well as the grocery list and discount coupons. When Mark slipped this season's basketball schedule under it 1 started to protest. There just wasn't that much room tinder one strawberry. straw-berry. SO WE bought a mushroom and grapefruit magnet mag-net . Under these magnets we agreed we would onh pttt our daily "to do" lists and the telephone numbers num-bers of the people we called most often. But before we knew it we were both slipping in extra notes and letters. We didn't intend to keep them there, but those magnets just seemed to be so handy for all the little slips of paper we wanted to keep but didn't quite know where to put. I guess our refrigerator was becoming a lot like a filing cabinet. The truth is that it was getting very difficult to sort through all the papers pap-ers in order to get to the frozen hamburger. The next thing I added was a little "stick to your diet" sign which I placed under the mushroom magnet. mag-net. I don't even know why 1 put that note on the refrigerator: I keep the M&Ms in the cupboard. HOW LONG should you keep those notes and reminders on the door'.' I remember coming across a telephone message last week that said "urgent." It was dated two weeks earlier and that was the first time 1 had seen it. I guess it is time to clean off the refrigerator. |
