Show Questions Need Of City Administrator I read with great interest E. Arthur Higgins' letter to the editor in the March 23rd issue. I agree in part with many of the comments made by him. HOWEVER, my biggest concern is not that of the Public Pub-lic Works Director, but more particularly of the new City Administrator, who was hired with a $30,000 salary, and apparently a car allowance for driving himself from somewhere some-where in Salt Lake City to Centerville each day. Further, whenener we call to talk with him, he never seems to be there. We would like to know when he does work, and what work he does. Is the Mayor so unsure of his abilities to conduct the business busin-ess of the city that he had to hire this high priced individual, who docs not even live in Centerville? Cen-terville? Could someone who does not live in Centerville have the same interest about Centerville as those of us who live here? AND WHAT of the Council-...do Council-...do they just sit by and let these things happen without raising a voice of protest! After the Mayor's "splendid" State of the City address (ah, come on, a State of the City Address?) where he lauded his many accomplishments, giving giv-ing no credit to those who work there day in an day out, should he not also take the credit cre-dit for hiring an unnecessary City Administrator, especially when he continues to plead poverty as far as city funds are concerned. How about an "honest" accounting of your charge as chief of Centerville City, Mayor Blackburn. M.A. Peterson On behalf of a disgruntled citizenry |
