Show LINDON la Lm 3 Working is a pleasure these days at least for Reed Gillman. Recently the City purchased a new work truck and both Reed and his wife are rejoicing over the idea that there'll be no more chasing after Reed because the "darned old truck" won't start. For about a week Mrs. Brian Bezzant will be convalescing at the home of her mother, Alberta Walker. Mrs. Bezzant left the American Am-erican Fork hospital Saturday after af-ter spending a week there receiving receiv-ing treatment for virus pneumonia. Mrs. Virgil Flower is at home suffering with an extremely painful pain-ful hand Wrhen she picked up a butcher knife Sunday she intended to open a can cf milk and not her finger. The knife which she lost control of severed the tendons in the deeply cut finger, and the unfortunate un-fortunate accident sent Mrs. Flower Flow-er to the doctor on Sunday and the American Fork Hospital Monday Mon-day for further treatment. Last Sunday Mrs. Kenneth R. Gillman was feted with a birthday birth-day celebration dinner by her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Theron Gerrard of Salt Lake City. Enjoying a savory ham dinner besides Mrs. Gillman and Mrs. Gerrard were Mr. Gillman and two of the Gillman children, Charleen and Judy; the twoi Gerrard Ger-rard children, Marilyn and Stephen; Steph-en; and Dave Newbold from Draper, Dra-per, who is Mrs. Gillman and Mrs. Gerrard's father. The LaMar Scott children, Del, Verla, Chris, and Lane, had company com-pany over the weekend. Their cousin, Jeff, from Sigurd, came to stay with them last Thursday while Jeff's paients, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Thalman attended conference confer-ence in Salt Lake City. The Thai-man's Thai-man's left for home after having Sunday dinner with the Scott's and Mr. Scott's parents from Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Scott. Mrs. Verl Christiansen attended the birthday celebration held in honor of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Carlos Clayton of Orem. A lovely luncheon and progressive games comprised the afternoon social with Mrs. Don Clayton of Orem and Mrs. Kenner Clayton of Provo winning the prizes. Others present pres-ent to make a total "of eight were the Mesdames Harlow Clayton, Provo; Donald Clayton, Walter Pine, and Miss Pearl Stanton, Orem. Or-em. One of the most ardent boosters for the town of Lindon celebrated celebrat-ed her birthday Sunday in American Ameri-can Fork Hospital where she underwent un-derwent surgery last week. Margaret Mar-garet Holdaway, expecting to be I at home with her family this week, 1 i was visited by close relatives and friends who extended sincere hap- j py birthday wishes. A list of Margaret's accomplish- ' ments for the city of Linden, for ' the Lindon Lion's Club and for her , family would reveal that she has been a busy mother as well as an exceptionally good citizen. Next Saturday evening three Lindon youths from the Pleasant Grove High school chapter of the FFA will meet in Salt Lake City with other FFA youths and advisors advis-ors to board a train for Kansas City, Mo. Leaving to attend the national convention of the FFA. will be ' President Gary Richens, son of Mr. ' and Mrs. Glen Richens; Vice Pres-1 ident Leon Gillman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gillman; and reporter Marrion Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Johnson. Highlighting the boy"s trip will be a visit to Boys Town in Nebraska. About three weeks' ago when little Misses Colleen and Suzanne Walker toured the Walt Disney Studios in California with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed H. Walker, their grandparents, Mr. and Mis. Merrill N. Warnick of Manila, and their uncle, Mark Warnick, they did not dream that their guide, advertising manager G-raburn. would make them two of the happiest girls in Lindon this week. Although Air. Grabum had obtained the girl's names and addresses from Mr. Warnick, no one in the party was aware of the surprise that was in store for them. Following a letter from Mr. Gia-burn, Gia-burn, announcing his intentions, the girls received two 12 by 18 inch actual reproduction of the original origin-al celluloid drawings used in the Walt Disney production of "Alice in Wonderland," and "The Lsdy and the Tramp." Both drawings, which bear the same title as the full length features are two of the select feA' that have been rel?ased for public distribution. Misses Colleen and Suzanne carried car-ried their prize possessions with them to school last week in order to share them with their classmates. |
