Show Twelve Years of TV in PI. Grove Nelson Affirms Twelve years ago TV made its debut in Pleasant Grove, according ac-cording to J. Howard Nelson, In whose home the first set was put into operation on the evening of April 18, 1949. As per the April 21 issue of the Pleasant Grove Review, nine people peo-ple enjoyed the first program ssen locally. They were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and children Jan, Ju-dv. Ju-dv. Ann, Merry Joy and Jerry B. Mrs. Leone Told, Mrs. Bernard Bern-ard Mott and daughter Analee. The original floor model television tele-vision sot (12 inch round screen), the first television set to be brought to Pleasant Grove, and now once more in perfect operating oper-ating condition, is waiting to be presented as a gift to any interested inter-ested civic group or organization, organiza-tion, for display in the public interest, in-terest, Mr. Nelson stated recently- . Mr. Nelson said many residents of Pleasant Grove saw their first tele'vision programs in the living room of the Nelson's home, when theirs was the only TV sot in town. As many as thirty to forty for-ty people crowded around the 12-inch screen to watch the show. - Regularly the small fry from around town would collect around and peek in the windows to get a glimpse of television. |
