Show Editorial . . . LET'S GET THE JOB DONE Reports from Monday's session of the city council reveal that as of this date nothing definite has been decided relative rela-tive to the much-needed culinary water storage tank. Some might advocate that a tank of 1,500,000 gallon capacity is "too large and too expensive." Such a point of view is shortsighted indeed. In the first place a 1,500,000 gallon tank will cost only slightly more than one of 1 ,000,000 gallon capacity. We may not need the large tank today; but we will within a few years time. Population trends decidedly bear out this conclusion. Others might be foolish enough to raise the timeworn objection, "Let's get along with what we have. We've done it in the past." Regardler.s of how we feel about it, conditions in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove are currently far different than they were in the immediate past. Furthermore, the demand for water in the future will be different than it is today. That's just common sense based upon statistics. Another fact worth -remembering is that Pleasant Grove is located in a desert area. Rainfall seldom exceeds a total of 13 inches, even in a so-called "wet year." During the first four months of 1961 we have had less than 4 inches. If Pleasant Grove moves forward we must use every drop of water to best advantage. We have none to waste. Nothing is to be gained by procrastination. Let's get the job done. |
