Tiie various characters were portrayed por-trayed in a professional manner, and the play as a whole was a finished production. The seniors demonstrated just what they could do by presenting this modern comedy to raise funds for their class project. Each senior student contributed to the project by selling four tickets. Track, the only remaining major sport in high school, has begun with workouts in the gymnasium which consist of light exercises, practicing on the hurdles, and running run-ning exercises. Training will begin in earnest about March 18th, when ! workouts will be held out on the campus. The Annual Fathers and S'ons banquet given by the Future Farmers Farm-ers was held Saturday, March 9. A delicious banquet was served by Mrs. Carlson and the girls from her cooking classes. During the banquet the following program was presented with Lee Cobbley acting as toastmaster: Opening address, President Myles Harris; girls' trio, Maurine Lim, Jeanne West, Lucille Newman; ac-cordian ac-cordian solo, Wendell C. Day; duet, Alice Anderson, Thelda Gardiner; vocal solo, Jeanne West; remarks, J. W. Gillman. The principal speaker of the evening eve-ning was U. S. Marshall Mr. Alfred Gunn, who spoke on "Character." At the close of the banquet the vice president, Romell Ash, presented pre-sented Mrs. Carlson with a cake safe which contained an Easter basket. The Seminary students, under the direction of Mr. Smith gave a radio program Thursday, March 14, over K O V O. They dramatized the story of the Resurrection of Christ. In the cast were Austin Ditt-more, Ditt-more, narrator; Lona Walker, representing rep-resenting Salomi; Eava Richardson, Mary; Don George, Peter; Merrill Beck, John; Howard Lowe, the angel; and Forrest Cullimore, Thomas. The chorus consisted of the following fol-lowing student: Drucilla Loader, Shirley Harris, Maurine Beck, June West, Jeanne West, Beth Adams, ineiaa Gardiner, Warren Johnson, Howard Lowe, Floyd Backus, and Willis Day. They sang "Ot It Is Wonderful" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." The chorus was directed by Mr. Irwin Jensen. Captain Art Hook, world's famous deep sea diver, hero, and adventurer, adventur-er, appeared here Tuesday, March 12. He told a thrilling storv of the mystic ocean depths, he told how he fought a huge octapus at the bottom of the sea to recover the body of a sea-faring man. To the anxious eyes of the students stu-dents he showed and explained all his diving equipment. Captain Art Hook has made more than 7000 trips beneath the sea, has returned 17 bodies to the surface, sur-face, and has saved 12 people from drowning. The Seminary students gave the program at the meeting Sunday evening, March 10, in the First ward. It was under the direction of Mr. Smith. Six talks, a reading, and some musical numbers were enjoyed. Debate tryouts were held in the debate club Monday, March 11, to determine who were to make the too teams which are to participate in the Brigham Young University Speech tournament on April 5 and 6. Those winning the debate try-outs try-outs were: Frank Newman, Floyd Backus, Don George, and Austin Dittmore. There will be one oration go from the debate club to the same tournament. tourna-ment. On Thursday Mr. Pearson of the Stokes Studio in Provo took yearbook year-book pictures of the following groups: cheer leaders, pep club girls, junior and senior girls' athletic associations, as-sociations, Home Ec. Club, football and basketball boys, band members, junior high, sophomores, and all class officers. Dr. M. Lynn Bennion of Salt Lake City, church supervisor of Seminaries, Semin-aries, called all Utah county Seminary Sem-inary teachers to a meeting in Provo Pro-vo last Monday night. The purpose of the gathering was to discuss new methods of studying Mr. Smith of Pleasant Grove attended. at-tended.
