Show Offender Pleads Guilty, Receives Light Sentence Henry Chipman was sentenced to pay a fine of $50 and serve 30 days in jail, when he appeared before Justice of the Peace Irving L. Pratt, in precinct court, this week. Half the fine and all of the jail term were suspended on the condition of good behavior. Chipman pleaded guilty to a charge of gambling, issued following a raid conducted by officers of the state attorney general's office in cooperation with city authorities, on February 16. He voluntarily appeared appear-ed in the precinct court before a warrant of arrest had been issued, and indicated that he would plead guilty and not fight the case. He was released on his recognizance, pending the passing of sentence. Ross Parker, who was sentenced to pay a fine and serve a six months' jail term, of which five months were suspended, has been committed to the county jail, following expiration of a stay of execution. o |
