Show Lions Are Royal Hosts At Successful Interclub Party The American Fork Lions club members and their partners proved to be royal hosts to a group of 220 Lions and guests last Thursday evening eve-ning at the Utah State Training School. Members from Lehi, Provo, Heber, Payson and Pleasant Grove clubs attended in goodly numbers joining the local club in making this one of the most successful and largest larg-est attended inter-club socials ever held in this central Utah district. The Provo club won the attendance prize having 62 members and guests present with Lehi second with 44. The American Fork club members and guests present totaled 60. Honored Hon-ored guests were District Governor and Mrs. J. L. Hiatt, Hcbcr; Deputy District Governor and Mrs. Earl Holmstead, American Fork; Zone E Chairman, Dr. Elmo Eddington and wife, Lehi. The turkey dinner was served in the large Training School auditorium auditor-ium where tables were set in night club style with appropriate enler-i enler-i taining numbers. Each club attending attend-ing furnished numbers, Provo a dancing feature, Lehi vocal numbers, numb-ers, Payson a comic reading, Heber a dancing skit and Pleasant Grove snatched the whole show with a three-piece Hillbilly orchestra number. num-ber. Lion President Elmer Bate called the group to order, announced the preliminary numbers and introduced introduc-ed Dr. II. H. Rnmstiy as master of ceremonies. Later Dr. Ramsay introduced in-troduced Lion Earl Holmstead as toast master who then announced the program and stunts in his usual witty manner and line of ribbing. A Heber trio, headed by Storm McDonald, Mc-Donald, acted as tail twist ers of t he evening and were responsible for much of the fun and "life" of the party. Governor Iliat.t briefly outlined the aim of Lionism in our nation, emphasizing the fact that the organization or-ganization stands first in number of service clubs in the United .States and service to the thousands of communities in which they are organized. or-ganized. Following the banquet the group indulged in dancing lor two hours. |
