Show Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Wing and sons, Miles and Sherman motored to Bingham Sunday and spent the I day visiting Mr. and Mrs. William j Hill (Mayme Wing.) Last Friday nigiu, the occas-ian being Miss Virginia Mercer': birthday, birth-day, the Misses Selma and Genna Vee Seastrand, Loraine Cheever, j Denice Humphries and Naomi Fred-ricks Fred-ricks gave a party at her home. The time was spent in playing bridge following which a dainty lunch was served. f Mrs. S. F. Grant, Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. Walter Durrant, the presidency of the First ward Primary, Pri-mary, entertained the officers and teachers of the organziation Monday Mon-day night at the Grant home. A hot supper was served early in the evening after which all engaged in playing "Stung", Mrs. Melvin Grant winning the high score prize. Thirty five ladies were present. j Mr. and Mrs. Ben Moffett and daughter, Mrs. La Veil Singleton, Mr. and Mrs. Maurius Madsen returned re-turned Monday night from a trip to : View, Idaho. They attended the services Sunday afternoon of Mrs. j Alice A. Moffett, former American Fork resident, the mother of Ben, and the sister of Mrs. Madsen. The party left here by automobile early Saturday morning. Sunday night they stopped in Aberdeen, Idaho, j with Mrs. Madsen's daughter, Mrs. j J. W. Stratton, and family. A group of ladies went to the , home of Mrs. James Chipman last j Saturday afternoon to extend greetings greet-ings and birthday wishes. All enjoyed en-joyed the afternoon in playing bridge, Mrs. Byron Crookston winning win-ning the prize. Late in the afternoon after-noon a delicious lunch was served, Mrs. Dorothy Rosebraugh of Salt Lake assisting her mother in serving. Culbertson and Miss Florence Chipman of Salt Lake spent Sunday here with Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Chipman and family. fam-ily. Mrs. Roy Myers and son of Eureka were week-end guests of the Chipmans here. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Poulson (Ueva Roberts) of Holladay are the proud parents of a baby daughter, born Friday last at the home of Mrs. Poulson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Roberts Sr. here. Mother and baby are doing nicely. A re-organization of the Utah County Democratic Committee was recently effected with the appointment appoint-ment of a secretary and treasurer left with the new chairman, H. M. Woodward of Provo. Clarence Grant, who for the past two years has acted as secretary of the county coun-ty committee was asked by Mr. Woodward to act in this capacity for another two years. Miss Bernice Wilde spent iast week-end in the capitol city visiting with her sister,. Mrs. James Moffett. Mrs. J. C. Klrkendall of Dividend, spent last week-end here with her sister, Miss Sadie Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Wirth of Gooding, Good-ing, Idaho, were visitors at the home I of Earl Wright the past week-end. Mrs. Leon Whipple and son, Foster, returned to their home in Ogden Sunday after a visit of two weeks here with Mrs. Whipple's mother, Mrs. Emma Foster. Mrs. E. D. Healey returned home Sunday night from Twin Falls, Idaho, where she has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Sherman T. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. James Peters and family, and Dr. and Mrs. Culver Anderson pleasantly surprised Elmo Peters at his home Monday night, the occasion being his birthday. Social So-cial chat was enjoyed and a tasty lunch served. Mrs. Le Grande Gudmundsen and small daughter returned home to Payson Sunday with Mr. Gudmundsen Gudmund-sen following a week's visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chipman and other relatives. Miss Florence Magneson, representative repre-sentative of the Dorothy Perkins cosmetic products company, is spending this week in American Fork. Every day at the Chipman Mercantile Co. Miss Magneson is giving free facials demonstrating the proper use of cosmetics. She will have given one hundred facials by the end of the week. Miss Grace Dangerfield of Provo, and Curt Harding of Salt Lake City, were dinner guests Sunday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Peters. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vest left the first of the week for Vernal where Mr. Vest has been employed as principal prin-cipal of the L. D. S. Seminary in that city. Since September he has been Junior seminary instructor1 here. His many friends here are pleased to learn of this opportunity for advancement and wish him the best of success. n Miss Mary Ashby was in attendance atten-dance Monday night in Provo at a party given the Fidelas social unit of the B. Y. U. R. L. Ashby left Friday last and is spending this week in various cities in California on business connected with his poultry interests. j Mrs. Dick Steele had ten lady j friends as guests Thursday afternoon. after-noon. The time was spent in quilting quilt-ing after which Mrs. Steele served ,her guests a tasty supper. Mrs. R. V. Ashby was among the guests at a tea given by the Nelke Club of Provo held at the home of Mrs. Inez K. Allen last Saturday afternoon.. The sick appreciate flowers more than anything else. The Relief Society of the FourtlJ ward celebrated Lincoln's birthday and Valentine day Tuesday afternoon after-noon by having a social in the ward 'chapel at which over fifty were present. A program comprised of numbers appropriate for Lincoln's birthday was given after which refreshments re-freshments were served, with Valentine Valen-tine favors. Mrs. Stella Randolph and her daughter, Nan, of Salt Lake entertained enter-tained Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Hazel Curiningham here in compliment to her daughter, Mrs. Fei'l C. Hutchings, a bride of last week. The party was a miscellaneous miscellane-ous shower and the honorguest received re-ceived a number of handsome gifts. The game "Bride" was played and refreshments served. There were twenty present. Mrs. Clyde Nelson and Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Mercer entertained their Pri-1 Pri-1 mary class, the Larks, at the Nelson Nel-son home Wednesday afternoon at a Valentine party. Games were played and a delicious lunch was served. Mrs. Leo T. Shelley was called to Salt Lake Monday to the St. Marks hospital where her granddaughter, Miss Beth Strong, of Magna, underwent under-went an operation for appendicitis, from which she is making a good recovery. i Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kirkham and daughter Rae Mona, left last week for Los Angeles to make their home. Mr. Kirkham, employed by the Utah Woolen Mills has received a transfer to the coast state having been located for several years in Minneapolis. They have spent the past two months here with Mrs. Kirkham's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hindley Sr. Miss Lillie Shafter entertained the Variety club members and several special guests last Saturday night. Bridge was played progressively at three tables, Mrs. Kenneth Brown winning the club prizes and Mrs. Frank Brown the guest prize. A dainty lunch was served. The special spec-ial guests bidden were Mrs. Frank Brown, Mrs. Owen Humphries and Mrs. Milton Adams of this city, and Mrs. Rulon Peterson of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. Jed Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Laursen attended the convention of the American Legion Auxiliary of District 4 held in Spanish Span-ish . Fork Sunday. Upon the invitation invi-tation of Mr. Mercer, commander of the local American Legion organization, organ-ization, state officers stopped in the city enroute to their home and visited the Legion building which is being constructed. The visitors were enthusiastic over the project and commended the local Legion members and the ladies of the Service Ser-vice Star Legion higli'.v for their prr.grtsslveness. Those in the visiting visit-ing party included D. T. Lane, state Senator and National Legislature Legisla-ture Committeeman of the American Ameri-can Legion; E. A. Littlefield, regional region-al director of the Veterans Hospital, Salt Lake; Otto Wisely, state adjutant, adju-tant, American Legion, Salt Lake; and L. E. Blackner, of Magna, state commander of the American Legion. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown entertained en-tertained at a delightful Valentine ' party at their home Thursday night of last week. The rooms were cleverly clev-erly decorated in motifs suggestive of the season with sweet peas also ' used in the decorative scheme. Progressive Pro-gressive "Hearts" was played as well as other games, prizes being won by Mrs. Kenneth Singleton, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grant. A delicious supper was served early in the evening at the small tables, each place being marked with a Valentine favor. A gaily decorated box with Valentines for all provided a great deal of amusement for the gaiests who were Messrs. and Mes-dames Mes-dames Wilson Cunningham, Melvin Grant, Kenneth Singleton, Harvel Bennett.
