Show The C.W.A. Controversey C. O. Newman, foreman of the C. W. A., met with the Utah County Executive committee Thursday and presented his side of the controversey contro-versey that has been receiving statewide state-wide publicity for the last ten days. Recently a committee of C. W. A. workers took their troubles to the county and state officials in a determination de-termination to have a new foreman and Newman was suspended last Saturday by state and county C. W. A. officers. The local C. W. A. workers reported that Newman was also employed as deputy assessor, and had been city recorder until January 1st. It was not disclosed what took pace at the hearing but it was understood on reliable authority that a reccommendation will be made that Newman be re-instated as foreman fore-man when his duties as deputy county assessor ends in about a week. Newman declared that his last year's work as assessor lasted only a few weeks and yielded only $130.00 all told. The R. F. C. position carries car-ries only a small remuneration. Newman was given the position as timekeeper for the C. W. A, with Thomas Fenton us foreman. At the last city council meeting Mr. Fen-ton's Fen-ton's appointment was approved. n |
