Show CITY MAKES APPROPRIATION TO GUARANTEE CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC NURSING SERVICE DR. FARNER REQUESTS MONEY TO AID PROGRAM Financial aid of American Fork city to enable the health district to carry on public health nursing service ser-vice was assured Monday night when Dr. Lloyd M. Farner appeared before the city council. Dr. Farner, director of Health District No. 4, stated that, because of reduce funds from- the state welfare board, the health district would be forced to curtail the nursing nurs-ing service in Utah county unless other funds were obtained. A total of $12,120 is needed to operate in i the county, and local help is necessary, neces-sary, he said. He asked the city to bear a part of half the total cost, on the basis of $.062 per person in the city, or a total $188.90 for the city. He asked that the 1939 budget allow for the item, and also that a small fund be appropriated for the balance of 1938. Councilman Ray Ellison-moved that $15.25 be appropriated each month lor the nursing service. The motion was seconded by Councilman A. F. Christensen and carried. Mayor Albert Tregaskis asked that a report be made to the city council regularly each quarter by the nurse in this district, on calls within the city. Feasibility of erecting a monument monu-ment or marker here, commemorating commemorat-ing the first tax-supported free school in Utah, will be investigated in the near future, by a committee named by the city council. A communication com-munication from Daniel Harrington of Salt Lake City, asking the city to cooperate in the movement, was read, and upon suggestion in the letter, William S. Storrs and George F. Shelley were appointed as a committee com-mittee to investigate. Officers reports were read and approved, and bills were allowed. A meeting was called for 7 p. m. Tuesday, Tues-day, on resolutions for a project on fire building and equipment and street oiling to be submitted to federal fed-eral works agencies. Q |
