Show Burial of Custer's Men An article published by "an eyewitness" eye-witness" describing the burial of Custer's men (June 28, 1876) says: "Early in the morning of the twenty-eighth, all troops, except those left to care for the wounded of Reno's Re-no's force, repaired to the battlefield battle-field and buried the dead of Custer's Cus-ter's column, and as few tools were available, and the ground baked horH inrprmpnt was not comDlete in all cases. Custer was buried beneath a huge mound, and an attempt at-tempt was made to mark the graves of identified officers and enlisted men. In all 212 bodies were buried where they fell" |
