Show Official Sets up Farm Program For Country Whatever agricultural program is finally approved by the congress of the United States and adopted by the administration, it will probably center around five major provisions, in the opinion of Dr. Carl F, Taeusch who recently represented the AAA at a school of philosophy held at the Utah State Agricultural college in cooperation with tire extension , service. Fundamentals of a desirable na- tional agricultural program, said Dr. i Taeusch, include: Conservation of soU fertility and productivity in : order to safeguard for the future an I ample supply of foods and fibers for domestic needs; unrestriciea production, pro-duction, determined largely by individuals, in-dividuals, results in a condition whereby the land Is eroding and being be-ing depleted at an alarming rate; Accommodating farm-production acreage to market demands, observing observ-ing the principle of an "ever-normal granary"; Ensuring the supplying of adequate ade-quate food for the dietary needs of aSc: consumers this required 287 million acres in 1926-1929; Safeguarding the economic status of farmers as producers, whose Income In-come makes them purchasers of manufactured articles as well as payers pay-ers of mortgage interest and indebtedness, indebt-edness, in the interests of rural se- curity; improving conditions of farm me, by encouraging more home con-sumption con-sumption of foods and improvmg home conditions; enabling farmers '. to participate in the formulation of agricultural policies, local, regional and national; establishing an agricultural agri-cultural democracy. |
