Show Another Landmark Being Removed Another old land mark of American Ameri-can Fork falls the victim of the onward on-ward sweep of time and changing conditions in the tearing down of the old Bishop Harrington home across the road north of the tabernacle. The home was built 75 years ago by the young men of what was then known as the American Fork ward. Prior to that time the tithing house stood in the street in front of where the home was to be built. This was torn down and with additional ado-bies ado-bies made In the field southwest of town, the house was built, two stories high, and presented to the bishop. It was also dedicated as the residing place for Bishop Harrington. Harring-ton. The first Postoffice of American Fork was also (located on the Harrington Har-rington lot. This was taken down six years ago. A picture of the Post-office Post-office is in the possession of the lo- cal high school. In telling of the old home, William "Curlie Bill" Robinson said Brigham Young always stopped there on his trips to and from St. George. The place has seen great changes take place in the town and if it were able to tell them, would reveal many stories to a great many people of this vacinity. The home is being removed to make way for a service station now in the stages of erection. |
