Show Storm Brings Foot Of New Snow The storm of tire past week brought a foot of new snow to the upper heighths of the American Fork canyon section but missed the mouth of the canyon and this section. sec-tion. Reports from Deer Creek station sta-tion gave the new snow depth as between. be-tween. 10 and 12 inches and the total to-tal depth at near 48 inches. The recent snow was heavy and settled the snow level considerable, it was reported. The total water content of storms from October 1 to January 31 as recorded by Mr. E. O. Maxfield at the power plant in the mouth of the canyon was 4.94 inches this season sea-son as, compared with 6.7 inches a year ago. Only .3 of an inch was recorded at this station since February Feb-ruary 1st. Mr. Walker recently made a trip to the divide between American Fork and Provo canyons. At that point there was 44 inches of snow with a 12 inch water content. At Camp Al-tamont Al-tamont there was 40 inches of snow and 10 inches of moisture. Mr. Walker said the measurements at the divide were about the same as a year ago, however, there was 8 inches more snow and 1H inches more water wa-ter at Altamont than the same time last year. At Mutual Dell there is now 41 inches of snow and 11 inches of moisture, a little more than higher in the canyon. The Dell seems to be holding up good under the heavy weight of snow, due to the extra braces placed under the roof when the Dell was closed last fall. |
