The choir won a superior rating with a one-plus designation. PGHS choral music department to present concert The Pleasant Grove High School Choral Music Department will present several choral groups plus several soloists and ensembles in their annual spring concert on Monday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the PGHS auditorium. Billed as an "Evening of Excellence," Ex-cellence," the program will feature all groups that received a Superior Rating at region and state festivals during the year. The Mixed Chorus will sing 'Flying Free," accompanied by Floria Olsen; "Kyrie Eleison," accompanied by Shelley Flinders; and "If Only You Believe," ac companied by Jennifer Pack. The Chamber Choir, which also received a Superior Rating this year, will present "Matona Mia Cara," and "In These Delightful Pleasant Groves." Soloists and small groups participating will be Linda Blackham, Janilyn Patch, Lisa Brown, Tami Thurgood, Paige Atkin, Tanya Harris, Stuart Roberts, Suzanne Draney, Laura Robbins and Jennifer Draper. The Chamber Choir boys will sing the ever popular "Animals A-Comin';" A-Comin';" and a boys quartet, consisting of Bill Holman, Stuart Roberts, Louis Oliphant and Craig Gainps. will sing "I've Been Everywhere. The A Cappella Choir, which last week achieved an unprecedented Superior Rating with a one-plus designation, will be the prominent group, singing "Sicut Locutus Est" by Bach; "Stars and Shadows" by Debussy; and "God Bless the USA" by L.C. Greenwood. Accompanists for the group will be Janilyn Patch, Angela Humble and Heidi Henriksen. In addition, the choir will close the program with "Remember" and a traditional slide show commemorating com-memorating a most outstanding year. Immediately following the concert, tne annual awaras oanqueL for all A Cappella members and their guests will be held in the school cafeteria. The choir has had a most outstanding out-standing year, featuring the annual "A Cappella Capades," sold out for two consecutive nights; an appearance ap-pearance at Temple Square during the holidays and an appearance at the state capitol. Also, the choir recently returned from a enjoyable spring tour to the east coast, where they performed at several places in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and also visited Opryland in Nashville, Tenn. |
