Show Secretan to direct cancer society Kalyn Secretan of Pleasant Grove has been appointed District Executive for the Utah County District of the American Cancer Society. Hal Williams, chairman of the board of directors, said Mrs. Secretan replaces Tim Eisenhart who has been in the position for the past 15 months. In her position, Mrs. Secretan works with the volunteer board, which is comprised of 10 unit presidents from cities in tne county, and with volunteer committee members who help cancer patients, educate the public, and raise funds for patients and research. "Our goal this year is to raise $80,000 to help cancer patients in Utah County and to help fund cancer research," Mrs. Secretan said. "We thank all of those who contributed to the $63,000 raised in the county last year. More than 200 county residents were helped financially in their battle against cancer, while thousands of others became more aware of cancer through a variety of educational programs." Mrs. Secretan, who has been president of the Pleasant Grove unit for the past Vh years, became involved in-volved in cancer programs when her mother had leukemia. She has also served as secretary of the Crusade Committee before becoming president. For several years she worked on the BYU Campus Education Week staff as display and entertainment coordinator. She has taught workshops on party planning and has published a book entitled "You're Invited." Currently PTA president of Pleasant Grove Junior High, she is married to Robert Secretan, a counselor at American Fork High School. The Secretans have six children. |
