Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. M A. Jay Powell, 76, died March 12, 1984 in a Provo hospital following a cardiac arrest. He was born Sept. 10, 1907 in Lehi, a son of James Augustus and Prudence Bean Powell. He married Verla Phayne May 17, 1937 in Lehi. She died June 10, 1946. He married Grethel Claire Smith, June 21, 1948 in Lehi. He was a warehouseman for Interstate Brick. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife of Lehi; daughters, Mrs. William (Joyce) Sorenson, Woods Cross; Mrs. Boyd (Marjorie) Richardson, West Jordan; Jaydene An- - nette Powell, Lehi; step-daughte- r, Mrs. Robert J. (Claire Anne) Love, West Valley City; 14 grandchildren, one bro-- Shirl R. Allen Shirl R. Allen, 62, died Thursday, March 8, 1984, at a Salt Lake City hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Cedar Fort, a son of James and Juliet Smith Allen. He married Verda Smith, May 6, 1941 and they were later divorced. He married Maxine Gallaher, Nov. 22, 1957, and they were later divorced. He married Elain Grace, Nov. 19, 1973 in Ely, Nev. He was a veteran of World War II, a truck driver and sheep rancher. Survivors include his wife of Riverton; Prather, Murray, and Tanya Grant, Holladay; stepchildren: Gene L. Lovendahl, Neil Lovendahl, Richard Lovendahl, Carl Lovendahl, Jimmy Lovendahl and Raeleen Waddell, all of Riverton; several grandchildren; 18 two brothers and two sistes, Blaine, Art, Dorothy and Nelda. Services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, 118 E. Main, Lehi, where friends may call prior to services. Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. SII1IU, R. Brown Reta Fowler Broadbent Brown, 83, died March 9, 1984 in Salt Lake City. She was born Dec. 16, 1900 in Lehi, to Edmund and Mary Elizabeth Fowler. She married Spencer Hampson in 1924 in Ogden. He died in 1944. She married Sylvester Broadbent in May, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1965. She married Alex Brown in May, 1974. He died Dec. 17, 1983. She graduated from Dee Hospital in Ogden as a R.N. in 1924. She was an active member of the LDS Church and was president of the Relief Society, held offices in Primary, MIA and Sunday School. She was Mission Mother of the West Central States Mission in Billings, Montana and served with President Broadbent in 1951-5- She lived a life of service to many others, family, friends, neighbors and any in need. She is survived by two daughters, Lyn Clayton, Midway, and Jayne Kay Hilton, Murray; 13 grand children: Jolyn Dickey, Christy Brimhall, Scott Anderson, Pat Knibbe, Kim Anderson, Dave Knibbe, Courtney Alicia, Mark Knibbe, Barbara Bradshaw, Cindy Castleton, Tracy Anderson, Troy An-derson, Laurie An-derson; 24 greatg-randchildren; sister, Nadine Brown, Payson; three brothers, Lyn Fowler, Provo, Alton Fowler, San Jose, Calif.; and Milan Fowler, Lehi. She was born March 6th, 1890 in Springville, Utah a daughter of Charles D. and Annie Bell Tew Evans. She married Leonard E. Wiscombe in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May 24, 1965. She made her home in Springville, Provo, Salt Lake City and recently in Pleasant Grove. She was an active member of the LDS Church having served as Primary President in the Springville 2nd Ward and the Provo 5th Ward. Survivors include two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Lewis J. (Lucille) Harmer, Pleasant Grove; Ed-ward K. Wiscombe, and Mrs. Lynn (Nancy) Oldham, both of Mapleton; Paul L. Wiscombe, Provo; 18 grandchildren; 62 n ; one child; a daughter, Lola, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South at 300 East, Pleasant Grove, where friends may call Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Thursday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Hollis P. Clawson A Hollis Parsons Clawson, 80, died March 11, 1984, in the American Fork Hospital. She was born Sept. 8, 1903, in Camp Springs. Tex., to" James Lawrence and Ida Warren Parsons. She married Lawrence I. Clawson Nov. 7, 1921, in Gallup, N.M. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. He died April 23, 1963. She was active in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program in the American Fork Senior Citizens organization. She worked for American Fork Hospital for many years. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Zora Doyle, Morman Lake, Ariz.; Mrs. Patricia Hill, Arcadia, Fla.; Jack Clawson, Brigham City; Jimmy Clawson, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three sisters. One son, Monte L., preceeded her in death. Funeral services will be held in Ramah, N.M. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 North, American Fork. Burial will be in Ramah, N.M. Harry C. Peterson - - 1 i Harrv C. Peterson, 81, died March 11, 1984 in an Orem care center following a lingering illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1902, in Pleasant Grove, the son of Martin and Lena Jensen Peterson. He married Mada Peck, Jan. 6, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended Pleasant Grove schools. As a young man he helped his father in the fruit business and worked at Bingham Copper Mines. He was employed by Standard Brands, Inc. for 23 years and finished his career as a district sales manager for Minnesota Woolen Co. He was a member of the LDS Church where he was a High Priest in the Lehi 17th 2 grandsons serving LDS missions in South America; 12 great-grandchildren; one grandson preceded him in death; three brothers, Raymond F. Peterson, Spanish Fork; Dale Peterson, provo; and Dr. Dan W. Peterson, American Fork, now serving a mission for . the LDS Church in Kenya. Funeral services will ' be Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in the Lehi North LDS Stake Center, 851 N. 1200 E. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. HARRY C. PETERSON Ward at the time of his death.
