Roberts of Pleasant Grove are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Rachel, to Derald T. Terry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean T. Terry of St. George, on Friday, March 16, in the St. George LDS Temple. An open house will honor the couple that evening in St. George. A reception will be held on Friday, March 23, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center in Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. The bride-elec- t graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She is attending Dixie College, where she will graduate in June. ArI12rjFo LiiAU mm , V ) Open house to honor Margie Allred Wadley on 80th birthday An open house will be held on Saturday, March 17; -- from 2 to 6 p.m. at 295 South Main, Pleasant-Grove- , in honor of the 80th birthday of Margie Allred Wadley. Margie was born Mar. 23, 1904 in Spring City to Sanford Eugene and Lily May Lund Allred. She lived in Spring City until she was 16 years old when her family moved to Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1924. On June 4, 1924, she married Glenwood Wadley. They were married for 41 years. Glen passed away in August 1975. They had four daughters, Gloria Barber, American Fork; Doris Peterson, Lehi; Ellen May Wadley (deceased); Linda Jensen, Tempe, Ariz. Margie has one living sister, Nita Nelson, Pleasant Grove. ...... Margie was blessed with a beautiful voice and a talent for music which she has shared with many over the years. She has often sung at funerals and other gatherings. She has served as a chorister in many church auxiliaries. She served as Primary president in Manila while living there. She has served as a visiting teacher for many years. For a time, she had the same partner her mother had previously had. She is an expert at crocheting and has MARGIE WADLEY i made hundreds of pairs of baby booties, shawls, afghans and many other items. Margie has lived in the house on Main Street for most of her life. Her fafher built the home when they moved to Pleasant Grove. Later she and Glen purchased the home. Jennifer won first place and James won third place. Two Grovecrest students win at Utah History Fair at BYU I Jennifer Sykes, daughter of Glen j and Carol Sykes, was awarded a first prize trophy for her project for the Utah History Fair, Wednesday, March 7, at BYU. James Cresman won third place. The fair is sponsored annually by Utah State University, Utah State Historical Society and the Utah State Board of Education. It is open to all students, grades four through 12. Jennifer won the regional com-petition for elementary display. Her display, titled "Great-Grandma- 's Playtime," included some of the toys and games representative of Clarissa Leila Bigler Sykes Hamp-ton, formerly of Nephi. To get her information, Jennifer made a list of questions, then in-terviewed Great-Grandm- a in Salt Lake City. Some of the items displayed were a toy wagon, a soft ball, doll stuffing and a "guinea." Jennifer's grandpa whittled the ends of a piece of apple branch to make the guinea, which was part of an outdoor game. Jennifer is in Mrs. Major's fourth grade class " at Grovecrest Elementary. She will be taking her display to the University of Utah campus for state-wid- e competition April 18 and 19. James Crisman, son of James E. and Joy Crisman, won third place for his project around the life of his His project's title was "Charles Crismon, Western Colonizer and Grist Mill Builder." James will also enter his project in the Utah State History Fair to be held at the University of Utah. Utah Little Miss Pageant slated The Utah State Our Little Miss' pageant will be held June 2, 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah. As February marks the 33rd anniversary of the Pleasant Grove Garden Club, Eva Reynolds gave an interesting report about the club ' and what it meant to her to be its first President. Those who attended enjoyed special birthday party refresh- - ments. The meeting was conducted by Velma Gilman. Hostesses were Eva Reynolds and Shirley Millgate. The next Garden Club meeting will be on March 21st at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Building downtown. They will be privileged to have as special guest, I. Ardie Adams, who will demonstrate pruning of trees and shrubs. This should be a very informative meeting and they would welcome all who wish to attend. The members of the club also enjoyed acting as hostesses at the Spring Garden Show in Salt Lake City. |
