Show Yule decorations spiffed up for '83 For the first time in years the Christmas decorations on Main Street look better than new. The thanks for this improvement goes U) 1 )ou Hiv.zant and his crew from the Parks Department. Iist year the decorations were coming apart and hanK'nK low. One was so bedraggled that it dropped to near the bottom of the power polo it was hung on. The lights in each have been replaced, the Santa and his sleigh which go across the street at UK) S. Main look quite respectable again. Doug dusted off the Christmas figures that are on display in the city park, perked them up, and added flood lights to the entire scene. When Doug went to prepare the figures to be used in the park he found that the three wisemen were missing. An appeal was sent out for their return as someone may have borrowed them for a Christmas program and not returned them. Doug learned that three ice-scakrs were also missing and jokingly added that they might have ran off with the three wise men. If anyone knows the' whereabouts of these characters from the display please notify Doug or anyone at the city hall, 785-5045. 785-5045. Someone out there who is artistically inclined might want to re-do the wise men and contribute them to the city. That camel to the side of the manger looks mighty lonely without his wisemen. Every resident of the city should stop and take a look at all the refurbished decorations and the Christmas scenes at the city park. Then when you see Doug or his crew tell them how nice it is to see pride taken in the city's appearance at this special time of year. At the same time we encourage all citizens to take care that nothing happens to the decorations through theft or vandalism anymore. Pleasant Grove does not have a lot of money to spend on decorations in the downtown area but by taking care of what we have we can look as spiffy and Christmasy as the larger towns around us. Thanks Doug! |
