Show Private Land Is A Problem For Hunters Access onto private land in the northern part of the slate was a problem for many deer hunters during the general season and it may be a problem on some units during the five-day notice anterless control hunts in late November or early December. Wildlife Resources Northern Regional Law Enforcement Officer Paul Woodbury says the Division is working to obtain some access, but landowners do not always cooperate. Units which could present acute access problems are Mantua-Willard, Porcupine area part (201) and Coalville (206). Hunters should have obtained trespass permission in these areas. Although many of the deer will be below land controlled by private hunting clubs in the Chalk Creek area, the amount of access given by private landowners is uncertain. Woodbury expects no access problems in the Cache, Rich County (200) or Wellsville, Box sElder County (202) units. However, hunters should always seek permission from landowners. The Division will be able to guarantee some foot and horseback access into the two privately-owned East Canyon units in Morgan County (204) and Summit County (205), and Lost Creek (203). Hunters are reminded that it is their responsibility to obtain permission per-mission to hunt on private land. Printed in red in the Utah Big Game . Proclamation is the statement, "These areas consist primarily of private land and hunters should obtain permission PRIOR to making application for these areas." |
