Flag Football Is A Success By PHIL MARROTT As the programmer for the city recreation department I would like to thank those persons that participated in this year's Flag Football, from the !; participants to our supervisors and helpers. t We had a big turn out and ' with the addition of the lights for night games, all went well. The basketball program will start in January and further information will be taken around to the schools. As a recreation depaertment there are several things going on and some special events that you may want to watch for this month. The recreation department's pre-scho- has s just started a new session which will run until the 18th of December. If you have ever thought about putting your child in a l, but didn't have the money, give us a call. Our . program is more than reasonable and there are still a few openings. We have a three year old class and three four-fiv- e year old classes. Give us a call at 2 between 5 Monday through Friday. We have had many calls about the movies which we had last fall and all summer. We have made arrangments to continue the movies starting this month. The movies will be shown once a month and we will advertise those dates in the Review, Norton's, the Recreation Center, and around' town. We need your support if you are interested in this program. This month we will be showing "Song of the South." The movie will be shown November 27 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 and 2 p.m. The last and only showing will be on the 30th of November at 7 p.m. The cost is 75 cents for children under 12 and $21 for adults. Bring the whole family for $5. For those who are not aware of our new facility in the community, we would like to invite you to visit the old J.C. Building near the Rodeo Grounds to see what has been done with this structure. It has been in the city for some time, but not usable. We use it for our l, and community classes six days a'week. We are also using it as a place to hold parties, etc. If you are looking for a place to hold a Christmas party or any social, give us a call. This facility can be rented and if you call now there are still nights available. We appreciate working with you and hope that you feel good about the kinds of programs we offer. Pleasant Grove, Utah North of West Winds Cafe I 78S.QAQ5 Private Land Is A Problem For Hunters Access onto private land in the northern part of the slate was a problem for many deer hunters during the general season and it may be a problem on some units during the five-da- y notice anterless control hunts in late November or early December. Wildlife Resources Northern Regional Law Enforcement Officer Paul Woodbury says the Division is working to obtain some access, but landowners do not always cooperate. Units which could present acute access problems are Mantua-Willar- Porcupine area part (201) and Coalville (206). Hunters should have obtained trespass permission in these areas. Although many of the deer will be below land controlled by private hunting clubs in the Chalk Creek area, the amount of access given by private landowners is uncertain. Woodbury expects no access problems in the Cache, Rich County (200) or Wellsville, Box sElder County (202) units. However, hunters should always seek permission from landowners. The Division will be able to guarantee some foot and horseback access into the two privately-owne- d East Canyon units in Morgan County (204) and Summit County (205), and Lost Creek (203). Hunters are reminded that it is their responsibility to obtain per-mission to hunt on private land. Printed in red in the Utah Big Game . Proclamation is the statement, "These areas consist primarily of private land and hunters should obtain permission PRIOR to making application for these areas." Jinx Hits County Teams 'happened again! For the ump-tait- h straight year, teams South of to Point of the Mountain failed to get )the3A state football semi-final- s. Advancing to the final four, all at tile expense of Utah County teams were Judge, West, Ogden and Jordan. The Bulldogs of Provo came the closest, but fell in the closing minutes to a powerful Jordan Beetdigger team jWe American Fork, Orem and Springville were all easy victims of Northern foes. No one has satisfactorily the reason or reasons why the southern teams have consistently on unable to win the state football Playoffs. In other spot sports, "asketball, wrestling, track, volleyball, etc., Southern teams win Ule'r share of state honors.
