It was noted that settling has occurred in all areas which has created problems for the city. have been approved and are in the city offices. The engineer presented a letter indicating that the cost estimate for the improvements is $288,215.40. The developers stated that they have awarded the bids for the improvements im-provements and the cost is considerably con-siderably less than the engineer's estimate. They asked if the bond could be reduced to the amount of the firm bids. Mr. Wimmer noted that the amount of his bond is based on the total time span of getting the improvements installed. The engineer was authorized to review the bids received and determine if the bond estimate can be revised. The danger of the new asphalt settling on 600 West which was recently repaved after a new sewer line was installed was noted by Councilman Frank Mills. The advantages ad-vantages and disadvantages of water settling in clay soils was discussed. . Mr. Wimmer indicated that Provo City requires replacement of the native materials in clay type soils. Because of the small well site the storage of materials on Grovecreek Drive has been approved by the city. Holdaway asked the policy on allowing reduced garbage fees when the resident has moved for a period of time. It was re-affirmed that if a resident who will be gone from town for a period of a month or more will notify the city office before they leave they can have their garbage charges allowed. No allowance will be given if the city offices are not notified prior to the resident leaving. The council approved the appointment ap-pointment of Ken Adamson to serve on the Tri-City Golf Course Committee Com-mittee representing Pleasant Grove. Councilman Peterson reported that police officers working with the production company which is making a movie in town are doing so on their own time. Councilman Glenn Smith indicated that at the next planning commission meeting Ken Millard will have proposed ordinances on the accessory uses in the city prepared. |
