Show Newspaper Holds Annual Christmas Writing Contest It's time for amateur writers in north Utah County to dust off their typewriters and limber up their fingers for the 1981 Christmas writing contest sponsored by this newspaper. A $25 cash prize will be awarded to adult winners in each of three categories; younger writers will compete for a $10 prize in each category. All winning entries will be published in the newspaper. Categories are as follows: KSSAY - Must address the theme "The Importance of Giving." Entries must be typewritten, double spaced, with standard one-inch margins, and must not exceed three pages in length. Judges will be looking for originality of thought and general writing quality. SHORT STORY - Can be on any Christmas theme - fiction or non-fiction, non-fiction, serious or humorous - but it must not exceed six typewritten double-spaced pages. Entries will be judged on literary merit as well as choice of subject. Writers should attempt to develop a central theme through dialog or narrative. POKTKY - Open category. Judged on literary merit and consistency of style. The adult division is for writers 17 years or older; youth division includes in-cludes writers 16 and under. All submissions must be clearly identified iden-tified with name, address, telephone number and age division (youth or adult); none will be returned unless accompanied by a stamped, sell-addressed sell-addressed envelope. Deadline for all entries is December 14. |
