Show P.G. City Council Met on Wednesday, Last Week The first council meeting of November was held Wednesday, Wednes-day, Nov. 8, a change from the regular Tuesday night of the month because of election day. Even with the change, all of the council members were on hand with the exception of Mayor Jack Cook, who was excused ex-cused because of a work assignment. as-signment. Art Steele was present al the meeting to give a monthly progress report of city depart ments. Among many areas that were discussed was the matter of sewer connection fees. Mr. Steele asked the council to review re-view the present fee and compare com-pare that with the actual costs incurred by the city when the connection is made. Mr. Steele felt that the fee should be increased. in-creased. The council voted to review the matter. Mr. Steele reported that there have been 35 connections to the city water and sewer services in the month of Sept. with ten more to be made in the near future. These, connections connec-tions were made for new residences. resi-dences. Mr. Steele also reported the city owns several pieces of equipment which are not being used and could be declared as surplus. He recommended that the equipment be sold. The council reviewed the proposal by the planning commission com-mission to zone the new trailer court on the Geneva Road as T-R-l. The council voted in favor of making this zone change. Bill Hoglund, city recreation (Continued on page 8) PG City Council (Continued from page 1) director, met with the council to explain the recreation program pro-gram for the coming year. One of the problems Mr. Hoglund presented to the council was that of providing an equitable means of charging riding clubs for use of lights at the rodeo grounds. He stated that the lights last summer cost $433 to use. In the past, some clubs have spent hours repairing and maintaining the rodeo grounds and other clubs have paid for their time using the grounds. Mr. Hoglund asked the council coun-cil to establish a policy whereby where-by the costs of the lights can be collected. The council asked ask-ed the recorder to arrange a meeting with the presidents of the various riding clubs to discuss dis-cuss the matter. Chief of Police Michael Ferre and Officer Brent Bullock, were present at the meeting to discuss dis-cuss the problem within the city of minors being able to purchase beer from any of the local merchants selling it. They reported they know of cases where each store has sold to minors. They requested that action be taken to correct this problem and make it known to merchants selling beer to minors min-ors they will have their licenses licen-ses revoked if this practice continues. .MeOprestf The council was in favor of notifying those merchants with beer licenses that if they are found selling beer to anyone under age, they will have their beer license revoked. Bids for a new pickup truck were presented by Councilman Neil Fugal. The bids were reviewed re-viewed and a decision will be made at the next meeting after af-ter the bids have been thoroughly thor-oughly reviewed. |
