Show Extended benefits end for Utah unemployed Because of a decrease in Utah's insured unemployment unem-ployment rate, extended unemployment insurance benefits will not be payable after the week ending June 25, 1983, according to Duane C. Price, Unemployment Insurance director for Utah Job Service. "Both state and federal laws require that extended benefits end whenever the state's insured unemployment unem-ployment rate falls below five percent," Price said. He emphasized that the insured unemployment rate refers only to the rate of unemployment among those workers covered by unemployment insurance, and should not be confused with the overall unemployment rate of 8.8 pcrcGnt. Most of the individuals affected will still be eligible to receive up to 10 weeks of benefits under the Federal Supplemental 'Compensation (FSC) program in addition ad-dition to a maximum of 26 weeks of regular benefits. Price said that those affected by the end of extended benefits will be notifed by mail, and instructed as to how and where to apply for FSC benefits. The FSC program, enacted by Congress last year, is scheduled to end September 30, 1983. |
