Show Park City's SrdAnnualSoccer Camp Soccer is Utah's fastest growing sport and soon Park City youngsters will be gearing up for the fall season. This week they will be signing up for some professional coaching at the. Recreation Department's Third Annual Soccer Camp. The camp is run by Bob Martin, the soccer coach for St. Mary's College in San Francisco. Each summer, Martin travels around the country offering intensive weeklong summer camps to youths from 6 to 18 years of age. The camp has a loyal following in Park City. Last year 20 youngsters from the local league signed up. This year the recreation department depart-ment is expecting fifty. Martin is in Aspen right now and will be arriving in Park City, Aug. 17. According to Anne Bowman, Bow-man, more kids play soccer than play Little League Football and Baseball combined. com-bined. The camp offers intensive skill training, drills and sessions on game strategy. Bowman adds that the lateral agility and leg strength required for soccer are good training for skiing also. Sign-ups for the soccer camp are still open to any youth from 6-18 years old. The last possible day to register is Monday, Aug. 17 at 8:30 a.m. Camp begins each morning through Friday at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $50. Lunch is not provided but beverages for the players are.
