Show City Election Around the Corner Recorder's office prior to 5 p.m., September 14. According to Deputy City Recorder Marlene Olsen, the affidavit is merely a statement state-ment of intent to seek election and a verification that the candidate has been resident of Park City for at , least one year prior to November 6, which is the date of jhe general election. Olsen added applications for candidacy can be picked up during regular hours at her office at City Hall. She said she has had several requests for. filing information, informat-ion, but so far no one has actually become an official candidate. Should there be more than two persons file for each office there will be a primary election on October 6. After that a field of six will run in the November general election. elect-ion. Elections in Park City are non-partisan with candidates candi-dates running on their own merit rather than political affiliation. City Council seats held currently by Bob Wells and Rich Martinez will be up for re-election this fall as will the mayoral chair of Jack Green. Martinez, a veteran Councilman Council-man has served nearly 16 years in that capactiy while Wells is just completing his first four-year term in office. Jack Green was elected to the City Council in 1975 but gave up his seat in 1977 to successfully run for Mayor. At present, neither Councilman Council-man is willing to commit to their future political plans and the Mayor is equally undecided. Each say they need more time to make up their minds as far as re-election bid is concerned and all concur the recent struggle for reinstatement by terminated municipal employees emp-loyees will have an effect on that ultimate decision. By mid-September, however. how-ever. Park City's political picture should come into focus. Candidates vying for the three positions must file an affidavit at the Citv |
