Show EDITORIAL sl Ixrture Considerations Park City's phenomenal increase in permanent residents coupled with expanding recreation facilities has given way to probably the biggest building boom in history. Demand for real estate in Park City runs higher by the day which is evident by constantly increasing land value. This demand has given rise to several concerns on our part which we feel must be addressed by City officials. First: the increasing demand for Park City Real Estate has swallowed up practically all of the easily developed property. This is particularly evident by the nature of many of the projects now appearing before the Planning Commission. The projects now seem to have more inherant problems because they are located on real estate which posses certain inherant problems; either-steep hillsides, poor drainage, poor access, etc. . We are in no way taking sides against any new development but we do feel that they pose problems which is not carefully scrutinized at present; could in the future have a less than positive effect on the entire community. . We urge City officials to pay closer attention to these new developments with forsight and concern for future generations. Second: we urge the City to give more consideration to the acquisition of private property for public use. The City should move quickly to ensure future generations can enjoy the open space and public facilities which seem adequate for now but hardly acceptable in future years. |
