Show ORDER SUBVEY DOUBLE TRACK Salt Lake. Oct. 19. Surveys are in proiress for the double-trucking of the main lino of the Idaho division of the Oregon Short Line from Pocatello to .Minidoka. This is in line with previous pre-vious announcements and It can be considered one of the most import-and import-and undertakings ever Inaugurated by the big system. The great steel bridge over the Snake river at American Ameri-can Falls is already being rebuilt to provide- additional width for the second sec-ond track. I With the completion of this work I the Short Lino will have a double I track from this city to Farmingteu and probably through Ogden from Me-Cammon Me-Cammon to Minidoka, It will bo a good tstart on what will ultimately be the feature of all terminals. Minidoka is the point of connection with the Tw.in Fall Branch, which is Itself growing to be almost ft main Hue, nnd the second track will relieve re-lieve the situation between Pocatello and" Minidoka to a most appreciable extent. The stretch is fifty-eight miles, and as it gets the burden of the Idaho division, the T'tah division and the Montana division at Pocatello. the second track will enable the force at the Pocniello yard to handle the freight movements with better results by far. doing away with congestions such as are bound to occur at reasons rea-sons like the present, when the bar vest ni'h is on In full force. |
