Show PRIZE WINNERS AT BALTIMORE MEET BALTIMORE, Nov. 7. Hubert Latham, La-tham, who today accomplished the feat of a Right of nearly 25 miles nt.out half of it over the city e6tal-lished e6tal-lished a new record for over-city flight. The incentive was a prize of $5,000 offered by the Sun and Evening Sun for a trip over a prescribed route. Latham was to follow the course of the PatapBco river to Fort McHenry, thence up the Inner harbor to and around the Sun building, east to tho cltv limits, a mile northwest to Druid Hill park, down. Charles street to Baltimore Bal-timore and then southwest to the aviation Hold. Benefit of an Invalid. There was to be a short detour for the benefit of Ross Wlnans, a wealthy Invalid, who, unable to leave his home, offered $600 If Latham would flv within his range of vision. All this Latham accomplished. He varied his altitude from 400 to 2,000 feet and had to contend with a wind blow-lng blow-lng from 7 to 15 miles an hour. He sed his GO-horsepower Antoinette, and was in the air 62 minutes, making mak-ing no stop after leaving the Held. Over the Tall Buildings. All the tall buildings In the downtown down-town section wero crowded by thousands thou-sands to witness the flight. By noon every roof top was black with peoplo. At 12 o'clock the city seemed to stop work. Some minutes later word came that Latham had started. Latham La-tham sailed straight for Fort McHenry and wont almost directly oer It, turned and beaded In a northwestern direction. He then steered for the crowded skyscrapers In the downtown down-town district After circling the sun building he continued on the route designated. Performc Evolutions. At Calvert street he rose to 2,000 feet and performed a series of evolutions evo-lutions for the benefit of Mr. Winans. Then he headed for the skyscraper district again and. passing the high buildings, wheeled westward and boro away for the aviation field; There were real competitions at tho aviation field today. Here again Latham La-tham came to the front by winning first In both the duration and distance dis-tance contests. Count JJacnnea de Leescps, In his Blerlot, took the second sec-ond prize In tho altitude and duration dura-tion trials, and J. Armstrong Drexel, In a Bleriot. won the first prize for altitude. Ills record was 1,886 foot, Latham Wlnus Flrtt Prize. Latham took the first duration prize with a total of 47 minutes and 31 seconds, sec-onds, De Lesseps remaining aloft 30 minutes and 42 4-5 seconds. After flying In the "baby" Wright biplane from the rallrond station to the course. Arch Hoxsey made a bad landing and damaged the machine. Hoxsey was unhurt.
