Show Police Raided the Fake Political Meeting and Captured Principals Chicago, Nov. 8. A gathering, advertised ad-vertised as a political rally last night turned out to be a prize fight The fight got well under way before be-fore the police raided tho place and arrested 300 men. Including the principals prin-cipals and a prominent politician. A ring had been roped off in a stable. Men scheduled to fight to a finish had taken their corners and excited ex-cited spectators were crowded about the Improvised ring. The raid was conducted by Lieutenant Lieuten-ant John Ryan of the Englewood police po-lice station. Plaln-clothcs men and policemen from a doen of the South Side stations surrounded the barn-and. barn-and. at a preconcerted signal, closed in on the fake political meetlnc. In place of an address on political Issues they found a referee introducing introduc-ing the rules of the fiRht. A dozen patrol wagons were at the doors and the men arrested were load ed in and taken to the Englewood. station, sta-tion, where they were booked Two hundred men and lovs were waiting outside the building, seeking to purchase tickets These escaped arrest when the raid was made.
