Show VALUABLE PAINTINGS Were Purchased Years Ago by Col. Dun of Hot Springs, Va New York. Nov. S Twenty-five Important paintings, valued at nearly half a million dollars, will shortly be turned over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by the executors of the estate of the late Colonel R. C. Dun The death of his widow on Sunday, at Hot Springs, Va., releases these works to tho institution as her Interest in them was onlv during her life time. Colonel Dun died In 1900. Most of the paintings are excellent specimens of ihe work of the Barbl-sons. Barbl-sons. Including Millet, Corot and Dau-'blgney. Dau-'blgney. They were purchased by Colonel Dun a1oi:t twenty years ago and were then valued at $250,(m'. They have since then appreciated greatly in value. The gift will strengthen the museum mu-seum along certain lines. Among the more notable paintings aro Daublg-ney's Daublg-ney's "The Marsh," Corot's "Prairie n Forest Border," Rosa Bonheur's "Calf and Cow-," Millet's "Washerwoman," "Washerwo-man," Dupres "Peasant Girl In Field." Bougnereau's "Awakening of Cupid," and Troyan's "Shepherd and Sheep." |
