Show NEW FOI OFJUNft In Which a Farmer Loses $3,500 on a Deal ' Auburn, N. Y., July 15. David Dennis, Den-nis, a farmer or Moravia, yesterday informed District Attorney BurritL that he was buncoed out of $3,500 last week. Dennis was coming to Auburn last Wednesday when he met a stranger on a Lehigh train who asked it he knew of any abandoned farms for sale hereabouts. The farmer at i once offered his own and after several days' negotiations came to Auburn to post a forfeit of $3,500. He drew the money from the Auburn Savings I bank, and with tho man, who said he was "Mr. 'Keator of Cortland," counted ont the money . ' In order to be privia the transaction trans-action took place at Stijle cemetery, at a point near the grave of Chester Ches-ter Gillette, each placing his money in a metal box. ' Keator" kept the key and told Dennis to take the box home to Moravia until he brought the j remainder due for. the farm. , Monday Dennis received the key in a letter which said. .... i "You had better go to some quiet place and open tho , box.
