As a result of ' difficulty In getting a Jury for tho second trial of Leo O Noll Browne, charged with buying votes to elect William Lorimer to the United States senate, State's Attorney John W Wayinen, announced today he would' attack the syetem of drawing veniremen venire-men as soon as the Browne trial is ended "It la a frightful commentary on the conditions lu our courts," he said, that of 700 names drawn only eight men wore considered capable of trying try-ing this case. Moro than 90 per cent of the men drawn are those, of men Just twenty-one years old, young clerks and mechanics. We have had almost no leading men of business." Four veniremen were In the box when court adjourned today. They have been accepted by the defense ond questioned by the state's attorney attor-ney and It will be accepted tomorrow and the Jury completed. |
